Our Approach

Food Is Part of the Curriculum

At Meridian, mealtime is a learning experience — not just nutrition, but independence, community, and culture.

A Catered Lunch

An optional, freshly prepared and balanced lunch every day, with a vegetarian or non-vegetarian menu. It includes no pork or beef, and each month’s menu is shared with families at the start of the month.

Snacks Provided

The school provides a nut-free snack every morning and afternoon — typically fresh fruit, vegetables, crackers, cheese and water.

Montessori Mealtime

Meals are part of Practical Life. Toddlers and Primary children serve themselves, use utensils and clean up afterwards, and teachers sit with them to model good habits and conversation.

Learning About Food

Children learn about healthy choices, where food comes from, simple food preparation and table manners through Practical Life activities.

What We Serve

Meals, and How They Work

Catered lunch is available for $80 a month, billed separately from tuition, or your child can bring lunch from home. The school provides a morning and an afternoon snack, and Meridian is a nut-free campus.

Each month's catered menu is shared with families at the start of the month. To join or leave the lunch program, tell the office by the 25th of the month before. Tell us about your child's allergies and needs before their first day and we will plan around them with you.

Every Child Welcome

Dietary Accommodations

Allergies, intolerances and dietary needs go into a written plan that you and the Director both sign, covering the allergens, what to watch for, what staff do in an emergency, and any substitutions.

Gluten-Free

Tell us before the first day and it goes into your child’s written dietary plan

Dairy-Free

Snack-time substitutions are agreed with the Director and written into the plan

Egg-Free

Listed in the dietary plan, with any substitutions spelled out

Nut-Free

Meridian is a nut-free campus — no nuts of any kind on school property

Vegetarian

The catered lunch offers a vegetarian menu

Cultural / Religious

Catered meals include no pork or beef; tell us about anything else your family needs

Meridian is a completely nut-free campus. We take allergies seriously and plan around each child's needs with their family, in line with the allergy policy in our parent handbook. See the allergy and medication rules
